What to expect
Attendees will be able to ask staff questions at our enrollment booth, chat one-on-one with current UQ-Ochsner medical students about their experiences and join live presentations from our academics, alumni, students and enrollment team.

Join Professor Ronald Amedee, Head of the UQ-Ochsner Clinical School, and discover how The University of Queensland and Ochsner Health have worked together to train future doctors, driven to be global leaders in healthcare.
3:50-4:15pm – Applying to UQ-Ochsner
Take a deep dive into the admission process with our Admissions and Enrollment Team. They’ll take you through our entry requirements, application timeline and all you need to get your medical journey underway.
4:20-4:45pm – Real stories from our students
Hear from a panel of current students from Brisbane and New Orleans as they share their journey and experiences during the program. We’ll also have an alum to share their experience of Matching and Residency and how this unique MD program prepared them for that.
3:45-5:00pm - Chat with current students and staff
Our student ambassadors and staff will be available to chat with you one-on-one, answering your questions and telling you of their own experiences in the MD program.

Dr Davis completed his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Science, at LSU Baton Rouge.
After graduating from the UQ-Ochsner MD program, he matched into Family Medicine at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metarie, LA.
Since 2025, Dr Davis has been working at Ochsner Health.

Med School Journey: My first exposure to medicine was when my brother was hospitalized at a young age, which sparked a deep curiosity and drive to help others. I threw myself into volunteering in clinical settings and loved it so much that I continued in various roles from middle school through undergrad. During college, I also worked as a phlebotomist and doula, experiences that fueled my passion for patient care. Research and conversations with healthcare team members confirmed that clinical medicine was the path I was meant to follow. Seeing my brother complete his degree at UQ-Ochsner in 2019, and meeting alumni at his wedding who all shared glowing stories of their experiences, made me certain that this program was the perfect place for me to grow as a physician.

Med School Journey: It wasn’t a neat, clear path to medicine by any means. During college, I was a chemistry major, followed by computer science before finally settling on biology and a pre-medicine route. After graduation, I worked for a number of years in a neuroscience research lab and as a tutor before coming to the UQ-Ochsner program.

Med School Journey: It wasn't until well after college, out in the working world, that my journey to medical school began. Through a series of rewarding professional clinical experiences, particularly in the non-profit sector and public health advocacy, I recognized the unique role that doctors can hold in the lives of their patients; To be a realist about the pain that goes along with the human condition and an idealist about minimizing that pain and preventing it. I have been working towards fulfilling that role ever since!

Med School Journey: I studied psychology in undergrad but becoming a doctor was always in the back of my mind. Various experiences in undergrad really solidified my decision to pursue medicine and while applying to US med schools, I stumbled upon UQ-Ochsner. I hadn’t been able to study abroad and always wanted to travel to Australia, so I was sold on the program pretty quickly. I took a gap year & then was on my way to Aus!

Med School Journey: I've wanted to be a doctor since childhood—my cousins and I even dreamed up a future where we'd open our own hospital. After earning my degree from UC Davis, I completed a Master's at the University of Southern California and worked in cancer research before starting medical school. Having spent over a decade living abroad when I was younger, I was eager for another international experience, so when I discovered this program, it was an easy decision.
