Match Day 2022

The highly anticipated day has arrived for those who participated in the 2022 National Residency Match Program, a rite of passage in which applicants learn who has been ‘matched’ to a US residency program for the next chapter of their medical training.

This year, 94 UQ Ochsner graduates entered the match and achieved an incredible 98% match rate – with more than 70% matching in their top three choices for residency.

Associate Professor Leonardo Seoane, Chief Academic Officer at Ochsner Health, said this is the highest rate in the program’s history and far exceeds the national match rate for U.S. medical schools.

“We are so proud of all of our ‘new residents’ on this milestone day as they prepare to carry on the rich legacy of being a UQ Ochsner Medical School graduate.

“Our unique program offers students a global perspective as they train, giving them valuable insight and preparing them to thrive professionally and with compassion in a world changed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” Associate Professor Seoane said.
