White Coat Wednesday: Dileep Mandali

White Coat Wednesday
Published 9 Jun, 2022  ·  1 minute

This week on White Coat Wednesday, Ellen Giddings, a third-year UQ-Ochsner medical student introduces us to Dileep Mandali, the outgoing president of OMSA (Ochsner Medical Student Association) and a UQ-Ochsner 2021 graduate.

Dileep completed an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry and Biology with a minor in Global Public Health at The Ohio State University followed by a Master of Sciences in Biomedical Sciences at Tufts University.

Originally from India, Dileep and his family moved to the USA when he was 10 years old and mostly lived in the Midwest. Mentorship and advocacy are strong family values which he carries in his involvement with OMSA and other community outreach opportunities. Dileep took on the role of Academic Officer for the first three years and took up presidency during his fourth year.

We discover that Brisbane is one of President Obama’s favourite places (you get to ride a boat to medical school!) and Dileep shares what life in Brisbane brought him academically and personally.

We also hear from his experience in Louisiana during the Covid-19 pandemic, the unique opportunities he has been exposed to there and the wonderful southern hospitality he has grown accustomed to.
